What Happens During a Colon Hydrotherapy Session?

Colonic Hydrotherapy or Irrigation has become widely accepted as a treatment which promotes good health and well being. Using disposable equipment warm filtered water is gently infused into the colon using gravity fed low pressure via the rectum. The therapist gently massages the abdomen to encourage the water to move through the length of the colon.

When the water is released from the colon, gas, mucus, impacted faeces and therefore toxins are removed from the body. During the process the client will be lying comfortably covered from the waist down at all times. Comfort and privacy is of utmost importance and this is always respected.

Colonic Hydrotherapy can be beneficial to those people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, flatulence, bloating, digestive problems and constipation to name but a few. As part of a healthy lifestyle, colonic hydrotherapy can improve your health generally.

No fasting is needed prior to the session but colon cleansing programmes may be suggested in between treatments.

A session will usually take between 30 to 45 minutes but you will need to allow 1hour 15 minutes on the first visit so that the therapist can carry out a thorough consultation.

After your first session your therapist will advise you on the number of sessions that you will require for optimum benefit. Colon Hydrotherapy has a cumulative effect so between 3 and 6 session over a short space of time is usual before moving to a maintenance programme of 3 to 4 per year. Your budget will obviously affect your decision on whether you go with the recommendation but as a rule one is better than none two better than one and so on. Your therapist may advise you of lifestyle or dietary changes that you could make in order to improve your health. She may also recommend supplements to further enhance the effectiveness of your treatment.
