Infertility
Infertility is the most common reason for women aged 20-45 to see their GP, after pregnancy itself.
Infertility is estimated to affect around one in six couples in the UK and although the majority of these will become pregnant naturally given time, a significant minority will not.
Acupuncture can be an effective therapy to optimise the body's chances of a natural conception.
Many factors may account for infertility in women: abnormalities of the uterus (such as fibroids), ovarian dysfunction, endometriosis, scar tissue from abdominal surgery, thyroid problems or other hormonal imbalances, sexually transmitted diseases and other infections.
Several factors may be responsible for male infertility, including low sperm count, abnormal sperm shape and size, and reduced motility of the sperm.

Acupuncture is a very safe and effective treatment for many common gynaecological problems. It will not interfere with western medical treatment or drug therapy. Acupuncture helps to stimulate the various systems of the body to achieve homeostatic balance, i.e. the body's natural, self-regulating mechanism.
In many cases, gynaecological issues stem from hormonal imbalances leading to irregular menstruation, psychological symptoms and pain. By stimulating the nervous system and brain, acupuncture can help the body to self-regulate hormone levels and restore health.
