Facial Rejuvenation

For thousands of years, the Chinese have known that beauty comes from the inside. At least as early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD-1270AD) Acupuncture rejuvenation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emperor's concubines. The Chinese discovered and utilised ways to change the energy flow within the body to initiate the healing process for rejuvenation. Today, facial rejuvenation acupuncture is gaining huge popularity with those wanting to take years off their face, without the risks of more invasive treatments.

The Consultation and Treatment.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture includes a whole body treatment. The aim is not only to resolve problems at the surface, but also to address the internal imbalance that is causing the problem in the first place. For example, in Chinese Medicine, a lack of tone in facial muscles is due to a weakness in the internal organ system relating to the spleen. Therefore, in addition to stimulating the facial muscles themselves, the practitioner will also strengthen the system at its root, so that sagging is less likely to recur. This whole body approach to rejuvenation provides lasting results and many clients report that they not only start to look better, but also feel better, sleep better, have improved digestion and are relieved of general aches and pains.

At the first appointment, there is a full and detailed consultation including your medical history and any underlying health problems. You are then asked to indicate which areas of your face you would like to improve or that causes you concern.

The treatment itself involves inserting tiny, hair-fine acupuncture needles into specific points and areas of the face. These together with the body points are then left in place for 20 minutes. The process is virtually painless and very relaxing. Where necessary a variety of other techniques are employed such as jade dermal rollering to further reduce dark circles under the eyes or gentle Guasha facial massage to help lift and brighten specific areas of the face and neck. Where oils are used they are organic and of the very best quality.

The whole process takes one and a half hours for the first treatment and one hour for subsequent treatments.

A course of 6 to 12 treatments is recommended. Most clients will notice a difference after 2 or 3 treatments but they do tend to have a cumulative effect with the improvements becoming most noticeable and lasting after 6 to 8 treatments.

More and more, women and men too, are looking for a natural face-lift, that is, a way to maintain their youthful looks, naturally.

Face-lifts using surgery, or cosmetic face-lifts using products such as Botox injections, are being replaced at least in part, by natural methods.
